Job Title: Forklift Operator
Department: Operations
Answers to: Operations Supervisor, Operations Manager
Job Summary:
This position is responsible for operating a forklift for the purpose of moving, locating, relocating, stacking and counting merchandise. Other responsibilities include accurate storing, shipping, and receiving of all products in care and custody of Murphy Logistics to meet Company standards of safety, security, and productivity.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate reach truck and sit-down warehouse equipment safely and efficiently.
- Unload inbound shipments safely and move product to storage locations.
- Efficiently stack and store the merchandise in the appropriate areas, according to Murphy, management, & customer specific guidelines.
- Verify that inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage.
- Report quality & quantity variances immediately to management.
- Pull and prepare product for shipment, ensuring that the exact number and type of product is loaded and shipped.
- Perform picking duties in an efficient manner that meets customer service standards.
- Efficiently move product from staging and/or storage areas into rail cars or trailers.
- Load, unload, move, stack, and stage product and materials using a fork lift, clamp truck, or other power equipment.
- Maintain the facility’s equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion.
- On a daily basis, inspect and perform minor maintenance on the fork lift or other equipment & complete back of timecard.
- Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods.
- Keep appropriate records and reports to guarantee that tight inventory control and security are maintained.
- Assist in physical inventories and ensure proper stock rotation.
- Adhere to company & customer policy regarding cellphone use.
- Remove trash & debris from equipment and work areas when applicable.
- Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work area.
- Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse.
- Conduct operations in a manner which promotes safety and comply with OSHA and MSDS standards.
- Perform or assist in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as required
- Coordinate as necessary with all other departments/functions, especially Customer Service, Transportation and Maintenance, to assure Murphy Logistics’ customers the finest service.
- Perform body stretching exercises as established by the Company for safety purposes for 5 minutes at the start of day.
- Fill out detailed time cards for labor productivity and account profitability reporting.
- May be required to operate mechanical or electrical handling equipment such as carts, dollies, hand pallet jacks or electrical pallet jacks in connection with their other duties.
- Perform labeling, sorting, wrapping, packing, and repacking as needed; repair pallets when necessary; clean trailers and truck bays as requested. May be required to do Janitorial work.
Requirements & Qualifications
- High School Diploma is preferred, as well as 6-12 months of direct experience in a similar position
- Must be able to read, count accurately, do simple math, and write legibly.
- He/she must also be capable of sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time (at least two hours straight, six times in a 12-hour day). Must be willing to perform this job in adherence to a rotating schedule with 12-hour shifts.
- Must be capable of twisting, stooping, squatting, reaching above shoulder level and crouching on a frequent basis.
- The ability to follow directions with emphasis on safety is extremely important. Familiarity with materials handling is beneficial.
- All employees have food safety responsibilities and will check with customer requirements for specific policies.
Must be able to lift the following amounts with corresponding frequencies:
· Up to 10 lbs. Continuously
· 11- 24 lbs. Continuously
· 25 – 34 lbs. Occasionally
· 35 – 50 lbs. Occasionally
· 51 – 74 lbs. Occasionally (2 people preferred)

Job Title: Material Handler
Department: Operations
Answers to: Repack Supervisor, Repack Manager
Job Summary:
This position is responsible for unboxing and re-boxing of customer merchandise. Other responsibilities include accurate repackaging, counting, and stacking of all products in care and custody of Murphy Logistics to meet Company standards of safety, security, and productivity.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Efficiently stack and store the merchandise in the appropriate areas, according to, Murphy, management, & customer specific guidelines.
- Form cases that adhere to customer specifications.
- Verify that customer merchandise cases are accurate and free of damage.
- Report quality & quantity variances immediately to management.
- Maintain the facility’s equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion.
- On a daily basis, inspect and perform minor maintenance packaging line equipment.
- Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods.
